Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage is  relatively new western treatment. Though originally designed for use on the head, it has been adapted to include other parts of the body, such as the shoulders, upper arms and neck. This makes it very effective for stress management .

This course is specifically designed for qualified therapists to carry out on a reclining client, which allows it to be offered with another treatment without needing to move the client.
and is ideal for reflexologists.

This course is for qualified therapists who have already completed a Level 3 qualification which includes an A&P element.

On completion of the on-line  elements and following assessment, you will receive a certificate that confirms your proficiency in the techniques. 

On-line modules allow you to work through the theory elements at times that suit you

The practical techniques are demonstrated and explained in videos that allow you to practice as your own pace.

The course is completed with a Zoom tutorial to review the practical techniques and ask questions.

The initial theory element of the course includes an understanding of:

  • The History of Indian Head Massage
  • Essential Anatomy & Physiology
  • Benefits of Indian Head Massage

It also includes guidance on adapting your current consultation and treatment process, including:

  • Client Consultation
  • Contraindications
  • Treatment notes
  • Home care advice

Each technique is individually explained and demonstrated via videos, for both massage and specific Indian Head Massage movements.

The routine brings all these techniques together and is specifically taught for a reclining client, on a Lafuma or massage couch.

The practical section also gives guidance on maintaining your own good posture as well as supporting your client’s needs.
